Thank you for meeting us at the International Collective Action Conference (ICAC). Engage with us and let’s contribute to a world free of facilitation payments. We look forward to that!
FAFPI represents a collective effort to address the frustration that individual companies and organisations face when dealing with facilitation payments alone. As a network, FAFPI enables members to share experiences and best practices in fighting these payments. It operates as a data-driven initiative, where members use the FAFPI reporting tool to document demands for facilitation payments.
Definition of Facilitation Payments:
Small payments, gifts or other benefits made to officials to secure or expedite the performance of a routine or necessary action, which you are entitled to have performed without the incentive.
Facilitation payments can occur in many different situations, and they can be called by different synonyms depending on where you are. Therefore, they are a problem that can be difficult to trace and can leave space for escalation to different crimes: such as larger bribes, extortion, or security threats.
FAFPI Reporting Tool
Our reporting tool aims to compile a dataset documenting instances of facilitation payment demands. This reporting provides evidence of criminal activity, supporting efforts to persuade relevant authorities and civil society stakeholders for an effective change.
FAFPI Blueprints
FAFPI has developed a framework consisting of ten elements, offering companies and organisations a structured blueprint to effectively respond and fight against facilitation payments.
FAFPI Working Groups
FAFPI members can join working groups, each dedicated to a specific aspect of fighting facilitation payments. These teams collaborate to develop tools and strategies, tailored to meet organizational and country-specific needs in the fight against facilitation payments.
